I was born in the early eighties in the multicultural city of Trieste. Growing up bilingual and viewing the world through various cultural lenses instilled in me a constant need to broaden my perspective. I began writing at an early age—you can find more about that in my writing corner. My interest in theatre also emerged early on, when I wrote my first comedies for amateur groups and school performances.
But that wasn’t enough for me. I was eager to explore the behind-the-scenes workings of professional theatre. Thanks to my determination, I began performing as an actor in both Slovenian and Italian professional theatres at a young age. It was a formative experience that allowed me to see the other side of the stage. My true ambition, however, was to direct and write.
My passion for literature first led me to complete a degree in German Literature in Trieste, with a thesis on the symbol of metamorphosis in Franz Kafka’s work. This passion also took me to Germany for an Erasmus year, where I discovered the opportunity to study stage directing at the August Everding Academy in Munich. I graduated in opera and drama directing in 2012.
In 2015, I was appointed interim artistic director at the Slovenian Theatre in Trieste, where I had started my career as a young actor. I successfully curated three seasons during that time.
I have a deep interest in both classical composers and contemporary music. Opera fascinates me for its rich, layered storytelling and the freedom it offers for diverse interpretations. I work with contemporary composers on world premieres of their operas and actively engage in writing librettos, driven by a strong belief in the expressive power of the operatic language.
Today, I consider myself a multilingual writer and director. I have worked in both opera and drama across Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, and Germany, and I greatly enjoy collaborating with culturally diverse artistic teams.
